Nautical Baby Blanket

This is my very favorite baby blanket I’ve ever made.

It is simple in that it is just a bunch of nine inch squares, but the fabric seriously doesn’t get any cuter!

I made this for one of my best friends, Kelli, who is having her third baby in less than 10 days.

TEN DAYS! It’s getting so close and I seriously can’t wait to hold that little guy.

Kelli is the cutest mom and if you could see her right now, you would probably all hate her guts because she looks absolutely incredible. Seriously, she looks like she’s 20 weeks along … not 39!

I sewed this cute bunting across the back that matched the quilt perfectly, and it’s probably my favorite part of the whole thing.

I really didn’t have any idea what I was doing, so it will probably fall apart the first time she tries to wash it… so let’s just admire it while it’s all still in tact.

If you want to make a quilt like this all you need to do is cut: 8 squares 9.5″x9.5″ 8 squares 9.25″x9.5″ 4 squares 9.5″x9.25″ & 4 squares 9.25″x9.25″ and arrange them like this:

You are just adding .25 inches each time a side of your square touches another square. So, since the eight middle ones are touching another square on all four sides, you have to add .25 inches to each side. This is for your seam allowance, so after your quilt is sewn together you will have all matching squares that are each 9″x9″.

Let me know if you make a quilt like this. I’d love to see what fabric combinations you come up with!
