Sittin’ In A Tree Bridal Shower

For those of you that know me, you know that I absolutely adore my older brother, and he has been my best friend for my entire life. Since the day I was born, we have been by each other’s sides.

As of this last summer we are now both married, and have started our own adventures with our other halves. We had very different weddings with one of having a very low key wedding while the other made their wedding day a massive event with an nj limosine service involved and everything. I’ll let you guys guess who had which wedding 😉 Hopefully, our adventures can eventually bring us in closer proximity to one another because I REALLY miss my partner in crime of 18 years!

My mom (Famous Julie) and I were commissioned with the task of throwing my new sister-in-law a bridal shower this summer. After months of planning we came up with this theme.

It was so fun and rustic.

We incorporated her wedding colors which were shades of pink and beige and added just a touch of green. The colors really were stunning and they will definitely make her stand out in her wedding dress on her big day! The wedding dress is so important for so many brides as well. It’s the one day that you can wear a big white dress and what’s not to love about that? If you are currently trying to find the wedding dress of your dreams then make sure that it’s the perfect one for you. There are so many places that you can go to find a dress, however, if you are struggling then it would be a good idea to view dresses on this site here.

My dad’s Alaskan moose oversaw the whole event. We figured he kind of matched the theme, so we didn’t mind much.

He probably liked being surrounded by a bunch of women anyway.

Famous Julie and I took this theme pretty seriously, obviously.

I mean, we brought trees into her house. Real trees. My little brothers cut them down, we spray-painted them gold, and we brought them into the house.

I still can’t believe we did that.

On top of that, my amazing and sweet grandpa Steed made these totally awesome cake platters from a real tree.

They brought this theme up a whole ‘nother notch!

We served picnic themed food like fruit, sandwiches, cookies and lemonade.

AND… Of course you HAVE to have cake at a bridal shower! This strawberry shortcake fit the bill perfectly.

Oh, that picture? It’s printed on WOOD. We got it from a cool company called Woodsnap. They have pretty awesome sales every now and again, so check them out!

Those pom poms are totally cute and festive, but they were the bane of our existence.

I’m not usually one to complain, but seriously, I think I have carpal tunnel from fluffing so many of those adorable suckers. And Famous Julie’s poor arthritic hands? Forgetaboutit.

Basically what I’m telling you about pom poms is, if you can, BUY THEM.

Or just invite all your enemies over, and have a pom pom fluffing party.

Unfortunately, I like cute events. AND being thrifty. AND crafting. AND throwing way too much on my own plate. AND keeping busy. … so I’ll probably do it again someday.

Seriously though, if I haven’t completely discouraged you with my (partial) sarcasm, and you want to make some pom poms, there are great tutorials online. I used this tutorial I found from pinterest from the blog Peach Blossom. I also found this tutorial from the blog Rust & Sunshine especially helpful because we didn’t want all of our pom poms to be alike.

I loved planning this event with my mom. She is always open for suggestions and has impeccable taste.

I want to throw another party just so she and I can have another project together.

With a brand new baby coming within the month, I better be careful what I wish for.
