Sugar Cookie Sheet Cake

Famous Julie and I attempted to turn her favorite sugar cookie recipe into a sugar cookie bars, and as you can see from the title, we turned out with something way more awesome.

Bonnie’s Sugar Cookie recipe turned into sugar cookie bars take 1:

I have no idea who Bonnie is… but apparently this is her recipe, and it has been one that Famous Julie has continued to make for my entire life. They are thick and soft, and almost seem to get softer the longer they sit… Who doesn’t adore a soft sugar cookie?

These turned out beautifully if I may say so myself.

They were super thick and delicious with cream cheese frosting spread over the top.

In fact, they were so thick that when people looked at them, they thought it was cake.

Now THAT’S one thick cookie.

Sugar Cookie Sheet Cake - the best of both worlds!

Famous Julie wants to make a few adjustments so that mistake is not made again.

So maybe we should call this first attempt “Famous Julie’s Sugar Cookie Sheet Cake?”

That sounds delicious.

  4. 1 cup sour cream

  5. 2 teaspoons vanilla

  6. 1 teaspoon salt

  7. 2 teaspoons baking soda

  8. 6 ½ cups flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.

  2. In an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs, sour cream and vanilla and beat for two minutes. Add salt, soda and flour gradually and mix until combined.

  3. Spray cookie sheet with non-stick spray and spread into the bottom of the cookie sheet. Bake for 15 minutes. They may not look like they are done, but take them out anyway, you want to err on the side of too doughy rather than too dry!

  4. Top with cream cheese frosting and sprinkles.

This dough is so delicious I’m surprised it ever makes it into a baked form of any kind when I’m around.

I’m kind of a rebel like that ya know. Eating raw cookie dough with eggs and stuff.

Sometimes I don’t even put the shopping cart back in it’s place after I’m done unloading my groceries.

I know. I know. That’s probably stepping over the line.

I’ll tone it down a bit for everyone’s sake.
