But THESE rolls in particular. They make my world go ’round.

These are the best rolls in the history of the world. No contest.

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups milk

  2. 2 tablespoons yeast

  3. 1/2 cup warm water

  4. 1/2 cup sugar

  5. 6 tablespoons shortening

  6. 2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. Combine yeast and water. Let sit until foamy.

  2. Scald milk on the stovetop. In a large bowl combine sugar, shortening and salt and pour hot milk over top.

  3. When mixture is luke-warm, mix with 1 cup flour. Stir in yeast mixture. Add 5-6 cups flour and 2 eggs until smooth.

  4. Let rise for 1 hour. Punch and let rise another 45 minutes.

  5. Roll out your dough in a circle 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Spread with softened butter. Cut your dough into 12 wedges. Roll them up starting from the wide part. Place rolls with point under on a greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise for 15 minutes.

  6. Bake at 425° for 7-8 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. Brush tops with melted butter when they come out.
