Buttery Cornbread

Cornbread and cinnamon honey butter

These guys should get married.

Like how peanut butter and jelly are married? These two should consider doing that.

For like tax reasons or green cards or true love or something.

They just need to be together.

This buttery cornbread is sweet and SO addictive when slathered with cinnamon honey butter!

Ingredients

  1. 2/3 cup butter, softened

  2. 1 cup sugar

  3. 3 eggs

  4. 1 2/3 cups milk

  5. 2 1/3 cups flour

  6. 1 cup cornmeal

  7. 4 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

  8. 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar together and then add eggs. Alternate between adding milk and dry ingredients.

  2. Pour into greased 9 X 13 and bake at 400° F for 22-27 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Notes

  1. *If you have a small family like I do that can't (er... shouldn't) eat an entire 9x13 pan of cornbread OR if you want to bake it in your cast iron pan like I did, you need to halve the recipe!

My Mom Taught Me To Play With my food http://playzwithfood.com/ You may have noticed there are three eggs in this recipe, and if you are anything like me, I hate halving recipes that have odd amounts of eggs because I HATE wasting food. BUT… this works perfectly if you whip up a batch of my hardcore honey butter with it, which requires one egg YOLK. So go ahead and use one whole egg and then just use the egg whites of the second egg and reserve the yolk. You will thank me later.

See how perfectly that’s going to work out? I’m telling you… these crazy kids are match made in heaven.

And because I hate wasting food so much… you better believe I ate that rogue piece of cornbread.

Didn’t even pick it up either. Just ate it right there with a fork.

Before you think I’m the grossest human on the planet, just know that this is NOT my floor. It is a table.

A CLEAN table.

I wish my apartment’s floors looked that good.
